Hi, I'm the founder of airQ. I was born in Australia and moved to New Zealand while still young. Eventually I moved to San Francisco to work amongst and learn from the greatest high technology talent spot in the world.
My first job was the Royal New Zealand Air Force, where I spend 8 years developing and building high reliability and safety critical devices. Subsequent jobs have included development of automotive and agricultural products. I have a Bachelors Degree in Electronics Engineering as well as a Masters Degree in Computer Systems, and grew up working with my hands. I am just as happy writing software or making a new circuit board as I am building a house or fixing an appliance.
About 20 years ago I bought my first home in New Zealand, and soon after discovered it had condensation problems (so much so that my window ledges were rotting), the house was always either too hot or too cold, and the bathrooms tended to grow mold on the ceilings despite my cleaning efforts. This led me to develop the first airQ system, which solved these problems and so much more. Since then devices like the airQ System have become common in Australia and New Zealand, with one installed in approximately 1 in 4 homes.
I moved to San Francisco in 2013, living in a cramped condo. I tried to find something like the airQ System to purchase but they just didn't exist, so I set about building a new system, based on what was learnt before, solving all the common problems with installation and maintenance, while at the same time making it smarter and more user friendly.
